Great Galena Wineries Near Our Bed and Breakfast

Galena has earned itself a reputation in the Midwest as being a great wine-lovers destination. It’s in part thanks to the many great Galena wineries found here. Moreover, Galena hosts a number of truly wonderful wine-related events throughout the year. These weekends are always popular times to be in the Galena, and we tend to book out pretty far in advance for them. There’s no time like now to plan for these fun wine-related events in 2022!

Though the dates haven’t been finalized yet, Wine Lover’s Weekend typically takes place every March. Covid has delayed this incredible event since 2020, but we’re hoping to see the return of this great event in 2022.  Stay tuned! It’s one of the state’s largest indoor wine tasting events and features wine not just from Galena wineries, but other top-rated wineries around the country.

Another great weekend, featuring delicious wines from Galena wineries, is Corkless Galena. As with the Wine Lover’s Weekend, details for 2022 have yet to be released, and we’re waiting with bated breath! It usually takes place in early June. Come fall harvest season next year, there will also be other fun events, like the annual Massbach Stomp and the Nouveau Wine Festival held each November by Galena Cellars.

While we wait for information regarding these events to be released, this winter makes a great time to enjoy some wine tasting at the top Galena wineries. Galena Cellars is the most popular of the Galena wineries, and they have a tasting room right here in downtown Galena – within walking distance of our Galena Bed and Breakfast! They offer three floors of indoor seating space, and they are open year-round. Alternatively, you can enjoy tastings at their beautiful vineyard location.

Other wonderful Galena wineries to try while you’re here include Massbach Ridge Winery, which offers tastings both at their vineyard and their Galena tasting room, Rocky Waters Winery, and Fergedaboutit Winery.  You can also enjoy some delicious wine tastings in downtown Galena at places like The Grape Escape or Champagne on Main. Don’t forget to pick up a bottle to go home with you from our friends at Galena Wine and Cheese!
