Having been born and raised in Galena, I am so pleased to share this community, this area and my home, Jail Hill Inn, with my guests. My passion for innkeeping began after I graduated from college at Northern Illinois University with a business degree in 2002. After graduation, I was excited to be part of the amazing innkeeping team at The Inn at Irish Hollow in Galena. An incredible opportunity and way of life as I was able to realize my passion of customer service and hospitality.
In January 2015, an opportunity came along to purchase an old building that was in dire shape and in need of extensive repair the old Jo Davies County Jail building. It was a bank foreclosed property and I took a leap and moved forward to purchase the property. I closed on the building January 29th and demolition of the inside began the next day. Additionally, a special use permit was needed to run a small inn based on zoning requirements, which was granted in March 2015.
In May 2015, bank funding was approved and construction began to turn the property into a luxury 6 room suite, steps from downtown Galena. Since I’m a local Galena, my focus on this large project was to patronize all local businesses for the construction work, design work, furnishing, etc a win-win for everyone. Jail Hill Inn is excited to be opening and welcoming their first guests on December 26, 2015.
What an incredible dream come true this vision has been to see it from an idea to it all unfolding and happening. This would not have been possible without amazing support from my loving parents, family, neighbors, friends, my contractors, and fellow business owners. I look forward to welcoming you very soon to this very special place.
