Suite 202 is located on the second floor of Jail Hill Inn, which was once home to the sheriff and his family. This suite shows off the jail’s architecture including five massive 9-foot tall windows and a rare exposed curved brick ceiling that soars to 14-feet high. Suite 202 features traditional décor with French provincial touches, a natural limestone fireplace, and a bonus cove seating area.
Views from the bedroom window give a sense of being nestled within the hillside among the foliage and lilac bushes. The bonus cove seating area is a guest favorite as it peers over the inn’s courtyard and showcases views of downtown Galena.

Perfect bed and breakfast inn for a top-notch experience. Excellent all around. Our stay at the Jail Hill Inn has been spectacular. Matthew, the Innkeeper, has created a beautiful environment for couples looking for a romantic getaway and cares so much about his guests. No detail is spared, and the quality of everything is top-notch. The gourmet breakfasts are so good and filling we were full until dinner.
Each afternoon, we also had great apps and wine (a very good selection is offered) The decor, linens, amenities, quality and level of comfort and care will have us returning often. You won’t be disappointed. The location is excellent, within walking distance of so much. Also fascinating is the history of the building and the labor of love required to turn it into what it is today. More than 5 stars in our book and the best place to stay in Galena for sure!
