Wine Country Celebrates During the 2018 Annual Nouveau Weekend
Though there are many delicious and fun ways to enjoy a getaway to Galena’s Wine Country, there are none quite so good as the Annual Nouveau Weekend. This year, the 34th Annual Nouveau Weekend will take place November 16 – 18, 2018. This annual event centers around Galena Cellar’s Vineyard & Winery, and showcases their annual release of Le Beaujolais Nouveau. This special wine refers to the practice of bottling the first wine of the harvest just a few weeks after fermentation. In the 34 years since its inception, Galena’s Annual Nouveau Wine Weekend has grown to become a full-blown community celebration revolving around all things wine.
Galena’s Annual Nouveau Weekend kicks off on November 16, 2018 , with the release of the new wine and a toast at Galena Cellar’s opening luncheon at their Main Street location. Many area restaurants follow suit and celebrate with traditional French fare and wine-inspired luncheons. Afterwards, a parade of revelers make their way down Galena’s Main Street, as the Nouveau wine is handed out to various Galena merchants. The celebration doesn’t stop there! Local restaurants and businesses take the celebration into the weekend with live music, wine tastings, dinner specials, and receptions. Galena Cellars vineyard will also be open all weekend for wine tastings and vineyard tours, and Galena Cellars Main Street Tasting Room and Gift Shop is open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. through December.
