Helping local Galena Illinois Business
Announcing the New “Jail Hill Inn Posting Bail” Program
At the end of 2018 Jail Hill Inn was honored as the Business of the Year from Galena’s Chamber of Commerce, and soon after we were named the #1 Bed and Breakfast in the country (and #2 in the world) by TripAdvisor. Given all our guests have done to support us over the last 3 years, we decided it’s time for us to start giving back to our community.
We’re excited to announce our new program, the “Jail Hill Inn Posting Bail” program. Galena is a small community that owes its success to tourism and the hardworking independent business owners that keep our town running. Many of our guests benefit from local non-profits in Galena, including the Jo Daviess County Conservation Foundation (JDCF), The Galena Center for the Arts, and The Galena History Museum. In support of these organizations, we’ve decided to donate a portion of the revenue earned from each stay at Jail Hill Inn to these three local non-profits, which you can read more about below.
Recipients of the Jail Hill Inn Posting Bail Program
As we’ve talked to and learned more about our guests, we’ve learned that some of their favorite activities to do in Galena include visiting historical sites, touring art museums, galleries, and studios, and spending time in nature. Ultimately, our guest’s experiences reflect three things we feel are vital to the Galena Community, which is why these three entities were chosen as benefactors of the Posting Bail program.
Jo Daviess Conservation Foundation (JDCF)
The JDCF has been instrumental in protecting natural spaces in the Galena area. The foundation began in 1993, protecting a single piece of land that is now known as Galena Gateway Park. The JDCF has since been involved in numerous protection and restoration efforts. Today, there are 7 JDCF properties, many of which have proven to be favorites of guests staying at the Jail Hill Inn.
The Galena Center for the Arts
Galena is a vibrant and artistic town, thanks in large part to the work done by The Galena Center for the Arts. The focal point of this organization is not only to showcase talented local artists, but to make art more accessible to small, rural communities like ours. Their programming includes high-quality art exhibits, hands-on workshops, art for sale, and various other engaging and artistic endeavors for locals and visitors alike.
The Galena History Museum
A visit to Galena wouldn’t be complete without an appreciation of Galena’s historic roots. The Galena History Museum houses 6,000 square feet of exhibits, including those on lead mining, the Driftless Area, Ulysses S. Grant, and the Port of Galena. For almost 80 years, the Galena-Jo Daviess County Historical Society and the Galena History Museum have been prudent stewards of Galena’s history and culture.
There are a lot of great reasons to visit us in Galena over the coming spring, summer, and fall months. Now you have one more! Book a room at Jail Hill Inn, and come help us support these wonderful organizations in beautiful downtown Galena. We look forward to seeing where our new Posted Bail Program can take us in 2019 and beyond!
